how Q-lite makes the difference
In a world that is becoming increasingly digital, sustainability sometimes seems a distant prospect. Digital screens, LED displays and electronic components are by definition not sustainable products.
Nevertheless, at Q-lite, we do everything we can to show that there is another way. As a manufacturer of LED, LCD and E-ink solutions, we take our responsibility seriously and are fully committed to circularity.
Because technology is only truly valuable if it contributes to people, society and the planet.
From disposable product to circular solution
At Q-lite, we believe that sustainability starts with design. Our LED displays are modular, which means that parts can be easily replaced or upgraded. Consider the click and screw system of our Q-LED TVs: this allows screens to last up to 15 years while remaining technically up to date.
In addition, we offer a take-back guarantee: obsolete screens are collected by us, refurbished and reused as second-hand products. Is reuse not an option? We then ensure high-quality recycling in collaboration with local partners.
Display as a Service: less ownership, more impact
Another example of our circular approach is the Display as a Service-model (DaaS). As a customer, you no longer purchase screens, but instead purchase a service with minimal risk.
Q-lite remains the owner of the product, which means we are responsible for maintenance, upgrades and – at the end of its service life – responsible recycling. This reduces material consumption and structurally extends the service life of our solutions.
CASE | Sustainable Q-LED TV’s in Moorslede
A good example of our circular vision in practice is the project in the municipality of Moorslede. Two Q-LED TVs were installed at the library and basilica in Dadizele. These screens, constructed from sustainable and recycled materials, are designed to last between 8 and 15 years. Thanks to their smart design, they can be easily upgraded to the latest standards.
CASE | Reuse of masts at De Lijn
In collaboration with transport company De Lijn, we are taking circularity one step further. During the rollout of new digital bus stop systems, existing masts from disused bus stops were not simply discarded, but carefully dismantled, repowder-coated and reused at other locations.
Up to 70 masts were given a new lease of life in this way. This is done in accordance with the NEN 2767 standard, in which the condition of each mast is assessed and, if necessary, a new coat of paint is applied. Thanks to this sustainable approach, we are extending the service life of the masts until the end of the 15-year contract.
Transparency through our materials passport
To make our impact measurable, we developed a materials passport. This describes the recyclability and CO₂ impact for each component (such as LED modules, power supplies, cables, and housings). This is how we make our chain transparent and encourage conscious choices among customers and partners.
Building a circular future together
Sustainability is not a destination, but a journey. As a local manufacturer, we continue to innovate in order to reduce our ecological footprint. But we cannot do this alone.
